ABOUT US

The mission statement of Transitional Legal is to provide first-class legal representation to men and women undergoing complex, difficult, and traumatic family law, criminal, and domestic violence matters, and to navigate a legal pathway through to the transition to single and co-parenting —particularly in situations involving serious allegations and significant risk factors to children.

The focus of Transitional Legal is often on high conflict, complex and urgent family law matters, predominantly in the Magellan List, the Evatt List and on the Critical Incident List in Division 1 and Division 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including (but not limited to) urgent applications, recovery orders, and where are serious concerns with regarding parental alienation.  We recognize that behind every case is a deeply personal story marked by fear, loss, and uncertainty—and we work to ensure that each client feels seen, heard, and supported.

The goal of Transitional Legal is to assist our clients in moving from crisis to stability with dignity by providing clear, grounded legal guidance during the most destabilizing periods of their lives. Through strategic advocacy and compassionate representation, we aim not only to resolve legal matters but to lay the foundation for a new chapter in their lives and the lives of their children.

WHO WE ARE

Roger Poed

Roger Poed is the Legal Practitioner-Director and Principal Solicitor of Transitional Legal.

With a Master of Laws from the College of Law and a Bachelor of Criminology, Roger brings both academic depth and real-world insight to complex family law and domestic violence matters. He is also an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, enabling him to approach high-conflict cases with both legal precision and a strong focus on resolution. Roger leads the firm with a commitment to strategic advocacy, client care, and fearless representation in the courtroom.

Roger chose to establish a Practice as opposed to being employed in the realms of Family Law.  He chose the name Transitional Legal because he understands that the law, for many, isn’t just about disputes—it’s about crossing a threshold. His clients aren’t simply solving legal problems; they’re navigating some of the most painful and transformative chapters of their lives. The word “transitional” reflects the firm’s core purpose: to guide people through complex, often traumatic legal terrain—from crisis and confrontation to resolution and renewal. It’s not just a name; it’s a recognition that behind every case is a life in motion, and that legal support should be as human as it is strategic

Our Staff

We are not your traditional law firm. We don’t hide behind mahogany desks or speak in tired legal clichés. We’re courtroom advocates first—strategic, relentless, and deeply human. Our focus is on high-conflict, high-stakes matters where lives are in upheaval and outcomes matter. Whether navigating complex family breakdowns, domestic violence, or serious parenting disputes, we meet clients where they are: in crisis, in transition, and in need of both fierce representation and unwavering support. We collaborate, we prepare, and we deliver—because justice isn’t a slogan, it’s our daily work.

Each member of our team is handpicked for their expertise, resilience, and unwavering commitment to our clients. Every member of our team—whether in the courtroom, behind the scenes, or on the front lines of client support—brings not only sharp legal skill, but the emotional intelligence required to navigate high-stress, high-conflict matters.  We can handle your type of matter, and we do, every day.
