Renee Dormer

Solicitor

Renee was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in September 2013 and subsequently to the High Court of Australia. In 2024, she graduated with a Master’s in Applied Family Law (majoring in Family Dispute Resolution Practice) and obtained accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (‘FDRP’) with the Attorney-General’s office.

She is currently a full-time solicitor at Transitional Legal, where she assists clients navigating the family law system in both property and parenting matters. Renee regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, as well as the Magistrates Court of Queensland in relation to domestic violence proceedings.

Prior to her current role, she represented both private clients and those under a grant of Legal Aid, frequently advocating for clients in mediations—both private and legal aid-funded—as well as court-ordered conferences and conciliation conferences in the FCFCOA. She has also briefed counsel in family law proceedings and, earlier in her career, in personal injury matters.

Renee takes a collaborative approach to legal practice, working closely with clients to achieve the best possible outcomes for their families. At Transitional Legal, she primarily assists clients involved in high-conflict parenting matters and complex property disputes, often dealing with cases that involve child safety concerns and domestic violence allegations. Her role involves advising clients on their just and equitable property entitlements and guiding them toward efficient and, where possible, amicable resolutions, particularly in cases where maintaining a post-separation parenting relationship is essential.
